Privacy Policy

IntNews collects only the small amount of technical information needed to operate the app - a persistent device identifier, basic device and software details, your IP address, and the approximate location (country, region, and city) we derive from it. This is used to deliver the news feed, enable any push notifications you subscribe to, protect the service from abuse, and fix bugs. If you buy a premium subscription, we also store the subscription details needed to keep it active. We do not require accounts, we do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and we do not collect advertising identifiers or GPS-precise location. Any record of what you read stays on your device and is never sent to us. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how you can have it deleted.

When you install IntNews, the app creates a persistent device ID that identifies your installation. On most devices this identifier can survive reinstalling the app. This ID - along with your device model, operating system version, app version, and language - is sent to our servers with each request. Your IP address is received with every request. We use it to derive your approximate location (country, region, and city - never GPS-precise coordinates) and to protect the service from abuse, for example by rate-limiting. We store your most recent IP address on your device record and keep a log of IP addresses seen for your device for security purposes. The countries you choose to follow and your selected app language are also sent to our servers so we can build your feed and scope your notifications to those countries. We use this information to: • Operate and maintain the service • Detect your approximate location and preferred language • Protect the service from abuse and enforce usage limits • Attach context to crash reports • Register your device for push notifications (if you enable them) This data is not used for advertising and is not sold. It is not linked to your name, email, or any other personally identifying information.

Much of your activity stays on your device and is never sent to our servers, including: • Your reading history - the articles you open - and the reading insights and interest signals built from it to personalize your feed • Dark mode and font size settings • Saved (bookmarked) articles • Recent search queries (last 10) • Cached article translations • News source and topic display preferences • Notifications you have received (your in-app inbox) This on-device data is what powers the "For You" personalization and the reading insights you see in the app - it lives only on your phone, and we never receive, share, or sell it. Note: the countries and app language you choose, and any topics or keywords you follow for notifications, are sent to our servers as described above, because they are needed to build your feed and deliver alerts. You can delete all locally stored data at any time using the "Reset App" option in Settings, or by uninstalling the app.

Articles are shown in their original language by default. Translation is optional and happens only when you choose to translate a story. When you do, the article's title and description are sent to a third-party machine-translation service and returned in your language. Depending on the provider used, this request is made either by our servers or directly from your device; when it is made from your device, that provider (currently Google Translate or MyMemory / Translated.net) also receives your device's IP address. The text is not linked to any personal profile. Translated article previews are cached on our servers for up to 72 hours and stored locally on your device for faster access; a small set of short interface labels (such as topic tags) may be cached on our servers for longer. Translations are machine-generated and may be inaccurate - see the Terms of Service for the limits of our responsibility. Free plans have a daily translation limit; premium subscribers have unlimited translations.

"The Brief" is generated automatically by third-party AI services from publicly available news articles. To create these summaries, only public article content is processed - we do not send your identity, your reading history, or your device identifiers to the AI service. AI summaries are informational only and may contain inaccuracies; always read the original articles, which are linked from every summary, for authoritative information.

If you subscribe to topic or keyword notifications, the app requests permission from your operating system and registers a push token (a unique identifier issued by Apple or Google) with our servers. This token is linked to your device ID and used exclusively to deliver the news alerts you subscribe to. The specific topics and keywords you choose to follow are stored on our servers, linked to your device, so we know which alerts to send you. Notification alerts follow the countries you currently follow. You can disable notifications at any time in Settings → Notifications, or through your device's system settings. You can also unsubscribe from individual topics or keywords in Settings.

IntNews offers an optional premium subscription. The purchase itself is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play - we never receive your card number, billing address, or store-account email. To activate and maintain your premium features, our servers store: the store-issued transaction identifiers, the product you purchased, your subscription status and auto-renewal state, the start and expiry/renewal dates, the store region, and the verification receipt returned by Apple or Google. This information is linked to your device ID and is used only to grant and manage premium access. It is retained until you request deletion of your device record, except where we must keep transaction records longer for tax or legal compliance.

When the app crashes or encounters an unhandled error, a report is automatically sent to our servers containing: • The error message and technical stack trace • The screen that was active when the error occurred • Your device ID, platform, OS version, app version, and device model • The approximate country derived from your IP address This data is used solely to identify and fix bugs. Crash reports are retained for up to 90 days and are not shared with third parties. The news content you were reading is not included in crash reports.

IntNews retrieves news content exclusively from RSS feeds that publishers make publicly available for syndication. We display only the article preview provided in the feed (title, description, and thumbnail image). Full articles are read on the original publisher's website. When you open a story, its full page, images, or video are loaded directly from the publisher's site (or, for videos, from YouTube); those third parties may receive your device's IP address as part of delivering that content, under their own privacy policies. Article data on our servers is automatically deleted after 72 hours.

IntNews requests the following device permissions: • Internet access - required to fetch news content and process translations • Push notifications - optional; only requested when you subscribe to a topic or keyword alert The app does not request or use location, camera, microphone, contacts, photo library, or advertising identifiers.

IntNews relies on a small number of third-party service providers to operate, grouped by the role they play: • Translation and AI processing - Google (Cloud Translation and Gemini) and, for on-device translation, Google Translate and MyMemory / Translated.net - translate article previews and generate AI summaries when those features are used • Push notification delivery - Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) - deliver the alerts you subscribe to • Cloud hosting - Google Cloud Platform - runs our backend servers and database • App store billing - Apple App Store and Google Play - process in-app subscription payments We do not use advertising networks, third-party analytics SDKs, or social-media tracking pixels in the app. Each provider processes data only as needed to perform its function, under its own privacy terms.

IntNews uses YouTube API Services to publish our own, automatically generated news-digest videos (“The Brief”) to the official IntNews channels on YouTube. This is a first-party, server-side integration: we upload only our own content to YouTube channels that we own and operate, and we do not access, request, collect, or store any information from your Google account or YouTube account, nor do we ask you to sign in to Google or YouTube to use IntNews. Your use of YouTube itself is governed by the YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms), and any data Google processes is handled in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).

For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we process personal data on the following legal bases: • Legitimate interests - collecting device identifiers, IP addresses, and crash reports, and protecting the service from abuse, is necessary to provide a working, reliable, and secure app • Contract performance - processing device and subscription data to verify and deliver premium features you have purchased • Consent - push notification tokens are registered only after you grant explicit permission via the OS prompt You may contact us at intnews.app@gmail.com to exercise any of the rights described in the 'Your rights' section.

IntNews is not directed at children under 13 (COPPA) or under 16 (GDPR). The device identifiers we collect are tied to device installations, not user identities. We have no mechanism to verify the age of our users and do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used this app and you want their device data removed, please contact us at intnews.app@gmail.com.

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding the data we hold: • Right to know - request what data is associated with your device • Right to delete - request deletion of your device record, IP logs, subscription records, push tokens, and crash reports • Right to object - object to processing based on legitimate interests • Data portability - receive your data in a portable format (CCPA / GDPR) To exercise these rights, contact intnews.app@gmail.com. Since we do not use accounts, please describe your device and approximate installation date. We will respond within 30 days. You may also uninstall the app at any time to stop all future data collection.

We retain different types of data for different periods: • Device profile (device ID, platform, model, OS, locale, selected countries, detected location) - retained until you request its deletion. We do not put a fixed time limit on this, so the record persists until you ask us to remove it. • IP address - your most recent IP is stored on your device record, and a log of IP addresses seen for your device is retained for security and abuse-prevention purposes. Both are removed when you request deletion of your device record. • Subscription records - retained to verify and manage your premium access, and kept until you request deletion of your device record (some transaction records may be kept longer where required for tax, accounting, or legal compliance). • Push notification tokens - retained until you unsubscribe from all alerts or the token is invalidated by your OS. • Article data - deleted from our servers after 72 hours. • Crash reports - retained for up to 90 days, then automatically deleted. • Translation cache - article-preview translations are deleted from our servers after 72 hours; short interface labels may be kept longer. You can request early deletion of your device record by contacting intnews.app@gmail.com.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through app updates. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when it was last updated. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
